APRS> The Automatic Packet Reporting System
Amateur Radio Operators have designed and put into
service in many parts of the world, a very unique
GPS based system. This system consists of a GPS receiver in
your automobile along with a Terminal Node Controller (TNC) and (usually)
a UHF or VHF voice radio. Using this system,
the precise location of the automobile is transmitted
through a packet node (repeater) system.
Other Amateur Radio Operators listening at any of the nodes
can track the progress of ALL vehicles equipped with APRS throughout
the covered region.
