Garmin recently posted firmware revision 2.05 for the GPS III+ and 2.04 for the GPS 12Map.
    Changes Made from Versions 2.04 to 2.05 for the GPS III+:
       Corrected display of invalid characters.
       Removed ability to change orientations through the contrast page on the power-on screen.
       Added Differential Beacon Scanning.
